Sarasa Comet Goldfish offer a beautiful red and white pattern on a long, slender body with a flat, single tail. Over the years, we have developed our very own bloodline of Sarasa Comet Goldfish that display a deep, cherry red contrasted against a crisp, snow white background.

Sarasa Comet Goldfish

Sarasa and Shubunkin both do well in garden ponds year round. An important point is that they do not get huge like koi can, so they are less likely to overwhelm a smaller pond, or one with limited filtration that could not support large koi. They do breed aggressively in most ponds, but as the population increases, so do the number of mouths eating the eggs and fry, so the population tends to level off at sustainable levels in most cases. It is similar to the common goldfish, except slightly smaller and slimmer, and is mainly distinguished by its long deeply forked tail. Sarasa Comet Goldfish are perfect for a small, planted pond where Koi are impractical. They will also do well with other pond fish like Koi, Butterfly Koi and other types of Goldfish.
