Pondless fountain

Sometimes space is at a premium for small yards. Or perhaps you have young children and safety is an issue. A pondless pond or fountain is a perfect solution to both of these challenges. If you where to decide to build this beautiful vase fountain all you would is the following-

How to build a pondless fountain or pond

For the pictured fountain your would need:

• A small pump- We recommend a Laguna MaxFlo 900 Pump for great flow and a no clog large basket.
• A large vase of your choice with a hole in the bottom.
• A 10 x 10 pond liner – We recommend a EPDM 40 mil rubber liner with a 20 year warranty
• 4-5 feet of 3/4″  tubing
• Assorted rock and gravel
• either a commercial spacer box or blocks (optional)

To assemble your pondless water fountain you will start by digging a 5×5 hole approx 3 feet deep. Remove all rocks or sharp objects from the hole. ( If you have to many rocks then it is recommended to use a Laguna under liner)  Lay your liner in the hole. Add your pump to the bottom of hole. Attach the tubing to the Laguna pump then insert the tubing into the bottom of the vase. Set the Box or block in the middle to protect the pump from being covered (optional), and fill the hole with rocks, starting with the largest rocks 5-10″ on bottom to small rocks and gravel on top. Sit you vase upright in the middle of the now filled hole and fill with water. When filled you can plug your pump in and you are finished.

Then you can add aquatic plants like water lilies or bog plants. Even a couple of aquatic snails to keep the algae down. Now you have a wonderful way to enjoy some water in your landscape without the issues of safety and maintenance.
