Pink Lotus

Pink Angel

Pink Angel is a very even colored Lotus. It is almost a hot pink with a white throat. It is concidered a mini sized Lotus and will be at home in small containers or large Koi ponds. This aquatic  pond plant is a very dependable bloomer, blooming several times a year.

The red or pink lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) is the national flower of India, and is commonly known as the Indian lotus or sacred lotus. It is often seen in pictographic representations of deities. Found in southern Asia, this lotus flower was introduced into Egypt about 2,500 years ago but is no longer found in the Nile region. Its flowers are usually found on thick stems rising several centimeters above the water.

The flowers of the red lotus are considered sacred by the Buddhists of India, Tibet, and China.

Almost all parts of the plant are used in Asian cooking.

For the larger sized lotus -The roots of lotus can be planted in the soil of the pond or river bottom, while the leaves float on top of the water surface or are held well above it. The flowers are usually found on thick stems rising several inches above the leaves. The plant normally grows up to a height of about 4-5′ and a horizontal spread of up to 9′.
