Orange Hardy water lilies

Comanche

Comanche is the largest and the showiest of the orange “changeable” hardy water lilies.

Blossom opens yellow and turns to a more coppery bronze. Newest leaves are bronzy with a red flecked purple underside.  Flower is cup-like then star-like. Very pleasant fragrance. It is nice to have a water lily that will look nice in your pond all season long.  Tolerates shade. Comanche does well in small or large ponds in both southern and northern areas. It grows to a spread of 3-5 feet in full sun.

One point to note is this lily seems to be a little bit more susceptible to crown rot than most water lilies. Maybe it is because it is a pinecone rhizome. It may help to not over fertilize or let the water of your pond get to hot.
