Everyone likes things just the way they want them. And Koi ponds are no different. Ponds should fit your needs. Just the right size -just the right shape. What kind of rock will you use? Should you put Koi in your pond? Should you put aquatic plants in your Koi pond. Do you need a filter? These thoughts are all part of the brain storming you and your pond contractor will need to do to come up with the perfect custom koi pond design . All questions must be addressed so you will have it just the way you imagined it. If your pond builder doesn’t do that -find another pond builder.

This pond was built with hard red sand stone rock. We used some large as well as small rocks to give it a more natural look. There are some rocks up the sides inside but not to many on the bottom. It will make it much easier to clean.  We used an EPDM pond liner as it is very easy to install and is guaranteed for at least 25 years. It will not crack or peal and will stand up to harsh weather. It is important to always try to use one continual piece for the pond and waterfall so it is less likely to have any areas that will leak.

An Atlantic Filter Fall  was added to top of the waterfall. This filter will serve as a biological bed to grow good bacteria that will help to use up excess nutrients.  The Atlantic Tidal wave pump is settled into the Atlantic pond skimmer. A pond skimmer works in three ways to help keep the pond clean. First it will skim the top water surface of your pond to remove things like leaves or other debris that falls into your pond.  Then it also protect your pump from becoming clogged. In most skimmers you can add extra pads that will add extra filtration.

Always remember to leave pumps running 24 hours a day for happy and healthy fish, filter and pond!  Next all you have to do is choose the aquatic plants like water lilies, bog plant or floating plants you like. Don’t forget the pond fish like Koi, goldfish and algae eaters . Now just enjoy!
