Bog Plants: Water Poppy
Bog Plants Water Poppy
Water Poppies are surface-dwelling plants that float atop their deep green, glossy looking leaves. They do best anchored in a pot or penetrated into gravel on the bottom of you pond or water garden. For best results they prefer full sun. Be sure to fertilize with a low nitrogen fertilizer like Laguna fertilizer spikes. Water poppies like other bog aquatic plants help to use up nutrients so will help aid algae control in your pond.
The plants will bloom colorful yellow flowers resembling poppies that are roughly the same size as the leafs.
Water Poppy flowers only last on average for one day, but bloom in rapid succession through out the Spring and Summer.
