Water Lilies:

SULPHUREA

SULPHUREA was hybridized by Latour-Marliac in 1888. Flowers are huge when planted properly sometimes 10-12 inches across. The flowers are also very fragrant. The yellow sulfur color gives it its name( there is no smell of sulfer.) Deep green foliage.

Water Lily Sulphurea has bright green floating leaves or pads. The leaves are nearly circular in shape, and they are notched to the center.  They arise on stems from long rhizomes in the mud.  

Water lilies usually live in water that is rich in oxygen and receives a lot of sunlight.  They do best in full sun to partial shade and should be fertilized regularly during warms months.

This slow growing Sulphurea lily “stays put” at a manageable 3′ or so spread and the pale yellow blooms contrast nicely with the bright green leaves.  The bright ”green pads” have a reddish blotch.
