Ultra Violet is a tropical water lily created by Florida Aquatic Nurseries. It has violet petals and maroon pads splashed with lighter maroon. It’s was introduced in 2007.

‘Ultra Violet Water Lily’

‘Ultra Violet’ is unique because it’s flowers are deep purple, darker than Director Moore, the darkest purple on the market today. The flower stands tall and consist of 50 plus petals which gives it the unique fullness. This beautiful tropical water lily is a great addition to any pond or water garden. It won the International Water Gardens Society’s best tropical and best overall new water lily in 2008.

Best performance plant tropical water lilies

For best performance plant tropical water lilies in at least a 2 gallon or larger plant container with a generous amount of heavy garden soil. Even the heaviest clay soils will work fine with the addition of a little sand and fertilizer. Fertilize monthly using aquatic fertilizer to reach maximum blooming potential

Preferred depth:
6 to 26 inches from surface to root

Height:
Leaves sit on the surface, flowers up to 4 to 7 inches above the surface

Width:
4 to 6 foot spread in a 2 to 3 gallon pot. 6-8feet in a 5 to 10 gallon pot

Bloom Season:
Water temperature is 68 degrees until frost

Bloom Color:
Very Deep Purple

Flower Production:
Heavy Blooming, 3-5 Blooms per day if fertilized correctly and in sun

Foliage Color:
Purplish Red in full sun, green to red in part shade

Container Size:
3 gallon minimum, fertilize heavily with fertilizer tablets Plant fertilizer when potting and through the season

Fertilize:
Heavily 6-8 Fertilizer tablets per month for maximum blooms

Hardiness Zones:
9-11 though can be overwintered inside or as a tuber
